Do you need Reactive Neuromuscular Training?

Do you shift to one side during your squat? Or lean forwards and struggle to get to the bottom of your squat?

Do your knees knock when you’re lunging or running? Does this even cause some knee pain as a consequence?

Does your shoulder hurt when you’ve been throwing or have you had a previous shoulder injury?

If you’ve answered yes to any of these questions, reactive neuromuscular training (RNT) may be a useful technique for you!

Here at Indergaard physio we employ RNT to help correct bad movements that can be contributing to people’s pain or limiting their performance.

RNT is a method to reeducate the nervous system to perform movements in good alignment with optimal muscle firing. We use resistance bands and vibrations to stimulate certain muscles that are under active. This then gives your brain more information as to which muscles it should be activating and enabling you to produce good quality movement.

In this video you can see an example of an overhead squat with a forward lean, you will then see a quick intervention which we would use as part of a complete rehabilitation program to help correct your movement pattern, followed by the after video.

This technique has been shown to have good carry over for up to 5 weeks in some studies and for this person, reduced hip pinching almost immediately.

Struggling with your movement and want some help getting out of pain and moving better. We know what it takes and can guide you to the most efficient way to achieve your personal goals.
